What LinkedIndex Does
LinkedIndex is a Chrome extension and web application that helps you save, organize, and retrieve LinkedIn posts. When you click the save button on a LinkedIn post, the extension captures the post content visible on your screen and sends it to your personal LinkedIndex account.
Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Email address and authentication credentials via Supabase Auth (Google OAuth or email/password).
- Saved post data: Post text, author name and title, engagement counts, hashtags, linked articles, and media URLs — captured at the moment you click save.
- AI-generated metadata: Topic tags, summaries, named entities, and embeddings generated from your saved posts to improve search and retrieval.
- Usage data: Query counts, export counts, and feature usage for enforcing plan limits. No analytics trackers or third-party tracking scripts.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not access your LinkedIn credentials or session tokens.
- We do not scrape LinkedIn or make automated requests on your behalf.
- We do not collect browsing history, cookies, or activity outside LinkedIn.
- We do not read or access your LinkedIn messages, connections, or profile data.
- We do not sell, share, or aggregate your data with any third party.
How the Extension Works
The LinkedIndex Chrome extension uses the activeTab and storage permissions only:
- activeTab: Allows the extension to read the currently visible LinkedIn page when you click the save button. The extension only activates on user interaction — it never runs in the background or accesses tabs you haven't interacted with.
- storage: Stores your authentication token locally in the browser so you stay logged in between sessions.
The extension does not use tabs, webRequest, history, or any other broad-access permissions. It does not inject scripts into non-LinkedIn pages.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security (RLS) enabled — each user can only access their own data. The web application is hosted on Vercel. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Authentication and database hosting.
- OpenAI: AI tagging and Ask Your Network responses (post content is sent server-side for processing; no user credentials are shared).
- Hugging Face: Embedding generation and named entity recognition (server-side only).
- Stripe: Payment processing for paid plans. LinkedIndex does not store credit card numbers.
- Vercel: Web application hosting.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your saved posts are retained until you delete them individually or delete your account. You can delete any saved post at any time from the dashboard. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below.
Your Rights
You can:
- Export all your saved data at any time (CSV or JSON).
- Delete individual posts or your entire account.
- Uninstall the extension at any time — no data is retained in the browser.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated via the web application. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
